There comes a time in life when experience begins to connect in ways we never expected.
After decades of serving as a physician assistant, educator, counselor, military officer, professor, pastor, author, health coach, and lifelong student, I began to see that none of these experiences stood alone. Each one pointed toward the same purpose: helping people grow into healthier, wiser, and more purposeful lives.
That vision became Growth University.
Growth University is more than a collection of online courses. It is the intersection of five lifelong passions that have shaped my career and my calling.
1. Medical Education
Good health begins with good information.
For more than forty years, I have had the privilege of teaching patients, students, healthcare professionals, and community groups. Medicine is constantly changing, but the goal remains the same: helping people understand their health well enough to make wise decisions.
Growth University offers practical education on aging, caregiving, disease prevention, healthy longevity, cognitive wellness, and medical topics presented in language that everyone can understand.
Knowledge should never be intimidating. It should be empowering.
2. Writing
Writing allows ideas to travel farther than any classroom.
Whether through books, articles, devotionals, novels, or educational materials, writing has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Every book represents another opportunity to encourage, teach, challenge, or simply remind someone that they are not walking alone.
Growth University includes courses for aspiring writers, experienced authors, and anyone who wants to communicate more effectively. Good writing is not merely about grammar. It is about connecting with people.
Every story has the potential to change another life.
3. Christian Faith
Faith is not an isolated subject.
It shapes how we care for others, how we respond to suffering, how we make decisions, and how we discover purpose. Throughout my ministry, I have learned that people are often searching not only for answers but also for hope.
Growth University integrates biblical wisdom with practical living. The goal is not simply to increase knowledge but to encourage spiritual growth that can be lived every day.
Faith should influence the way we think, serve, lead, and love.
4. Health
Health is much more than the absence of disease.
True wellness includes physical activity, nutrition, sleep, resilience, relationships, purpose, and lifelong learning. Small daily choices often shape our future more than dramatic changes made once a year.
Many of our courses explore healthy aging, fitness, lifestyle medicine, prevention, and practical strategies for maintaining independence and vitality throughout life.
Growing older is inevitable. Continuing to grow is a choice.
5. Mental Hygiene
We routinely brush our teeth and exercise our bodies, yet many people neglect the daily habits that protect emotional and mental well-being.
Mental hygiene is the intentional practice of caring for our minds. It includes gratitude, healthy thinking, emotional awareness, stress management, meaningful relationships, spiritual reflection, lifelong learning, and rest.
In today’s world, caring for the mind is not a luxury—it is a necessity.
Growth University explores practical ways to strengthen resilience while helping people develop habits that support emotional, cognitive, and spiritual wellness.
Bringing It All Together
Although these five areas may seem different, they are deeply connected.
A healthy body supports a healthy mind.
A healthy mind allows us to serve others more effectively.
Faith gives purpose to our work.
Writing shares what we have learned.
Education equips us to continue growing throughout every season of life.
Growth University exists because learning should never stop. Whether you are beginning a new career, entering retirement, caring for a loved one, writing your first book, strengthening your faith, or simply pursuing personal growth, there is always another opportunity to learn.
As I often remind my students, growth is not measured by age but by curiosity, humility, and the willingness to take one more faithful step.
I invite you to explore the growing collection of courses and resources available through Growth University at TeachClub. I hope they will encourage you, challenge you, and equip you to continue learning for years to come.
